Places we never leave
Every day of my life, the corners of my mind see long ago places where I have existed. From laying in bed, looking out at the hallway light on Lillian Road in 1969, to a road intersection in the desert ten thousand miles from here. It is all relative. A spiderweb of associative stories that long to be told when the unexpected prompt suddenly opens the door to another world.
Stories from the end of the world
Many years ago on an island in the South Texas Gulf of Mexico my Father and I would stay up all night as winter brought on the cold northwest wind. At 3 o clock in the morning, as the waves crashed against the jetties at the north end of Mustang Island, my Dad told me that he always thought of this place as the end of the world. Sort of a precipice as if you could look off the edge of the world into the unknown. I have always felt this. There is a piece of me standing at that precipice, always. It feels like a place from which I tell stories of the past, lessons learned and pay respects.
Tastes
I have a blog primarily for the food which can be found at the website https://fight4taste.com/ but I also like to share many of the taste stories here as well. Many of them are inspired by events, music and the creativity and noble efforts of others.
